1. Create a folder in your Outlook that is dedicated to things that make you feel good, such as praise from your boss, kudos from a teammate, a thank you from a student. When you are having a blue day, open your folder and read the things that make you feel good. I call mine the "Happy Thoughts" folder.
2. Buy someone a cup of coffee, a candy bar, or a coke. Deliver it in person, or sneak it on their desk and watch their reactions. Random acts of kindness are the best moral and happiness boosters.
3. Laugh at yourself. Sometimes, when the world is full of tension the best remedy is laughter.
4. Take a break. Ever wonder why every resents smokers? It's because they actually get up from their desk and go outside for a few minutes. You deserve that time was well. Every few hours, get up, walk outside, enjoy the sun or the cold, get a drink, and clear your mind.
5. Leave your computer at work when you leave. I didn't realize how important this was until I my new boss began leaving hers behind when she left. After a few weeks I followed suit and haven't regretted not having work hanging over my head when I was at home.
6. Chocolate - I feel this deserves at least an honorable mention in this conversation, because everything is just a little better with chocolate.
