The Make A Wish foundation, gives special once in a lifetime wishes for children fighting life-threatening diseases. I fell in love with the concept of this organization after reading about it in a book as a kid. The organization believes the wish they grant a child can either be a very powerful memory or the motivation to fight harder for their lives. While getting involved with the local chapter is a little complicated I still feel this is a cause I can support financially. Every Christmas, Make a Wish, partners with Macy's to raise money for kids. Check out their website as Christmas draws near. www.wish.org
As a dog owner that rescued an abused dog, advocating for animal rights. The ASPCA, is a huge organization with the power to really make a difference in an animals life. They provide lots of ways for you to get involved in raising funds for abused and neglected pets, as well as sponsor legislation to enact laws and regulations for animals.

Adopt A US Solider is a wonderful organization for you to adopt a deployed solider to spoil. They recommend sending a letter a week and 1-2 care packages a month. This is a great project for work groups and families. www.adoptaussolider.org
